Baltimore Trailblazer Could Be First Black Saint

BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Mother Mary Lange Catholic School in Baltimore is celebrating the path its trailblazing founder has taken toward sainthood.

Today is the anniversary of Mary Lange’s death and the school had a mass in her honor.

St. Frances football standout Lamar Patterson dies in car crash with light rail train on way to school

By GLENN GRAHAM | BALTIMORE SUN

St. Frances Academy junior Lamar Patterson, a standout wide receiver and cornerback on the school’s top-ranked football team, died in a car crash on his way to school Wednesday morning, the school’s principal, Dr. Curtis Turner, confirmed.

A native of Kissimmee, Florida, who transferred to St. Frances in 2019, the 17-year-old Patterson was rated a three-star prospect for the 2023 class by Rivals.com, which showed he had scholarship offers from 21 schools, including Penn State, Michigan, Arizona State, Mississippi, Tennessee and West Virginia.

Former chef received some ‘food for thought’ from Archbishop Aymond

As a child growing up in Natchitoches, Louisiana, I wasn’t very athletically inclined, so my kitchen at home became my comfort zone, the place where I learned how to cook and bake from an early age.

I remember using my mother’s “Betty Crocker Cookbook” to guide my first solo culinary effort: a chocolate-frosted cake, made completely from scratch. It turned out great, and I was hooked!
