IBCS at Xavier University in Louisiana Announces the 2024 Summer Schedule
July 1, 2024 @ 8:00 am - July 19, 2024 @ 5:00 pm
The IBCS 2023 Summer Session was one like no other! The Institute was blessed with a contingent of new students, including international seminarians from the Society of the Divine Word, the Glenmary Home Missioners, and the Society of St. Joseph of the Sacred Heart (Josephites). Five IBCS students – the largest group in 25+ years – were awarded the Masters of Theology (Th.M.) Degree. Sr. Jamie T. Phelps, O.P., Ph. D., former IBCS Director and Xavier University faculty, returned home to the Institute as Commencement Speaker. The Institute was wellrepresented at the National Black Catholic Congress in July – alumni, former students, staff and faculty – celebrating the IBCS legacy built upon the evangelizing mission of the Church and the work of Daniel Rudd and those gathered in 1889 at the first National Black Catholic Congress.
Next summer’s The dates for next summer, the 45th gathering of the Institute for Black Catholic Studies on the Xavier campus, are JUNE 30-JUNE 19. The 2024 session calendar is posted and will be updated as needed. Check this space frequently for information on the 2024 Institute course offerings, application process and registration dates.
Thanking God for the ancestors who keep us on track, our exceptional faculty, staff and dedicated students, and the Xavier University units and staff who generously support the Institute each year, Amen, Ashe!
