ERIC F. HORNSBY – Musician & Composer

Eric Fabian Hornsby of New Orleans, Louisiana, is one of the current liturgical musicians at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in New Orleans since 1976. Once a student of the noted pianist and Jazz educator Ellis Marsalis, Eric received his Bachelor of Music degree in Theory and Composition from Loyola University in 1984 and has composed several liturgical music works, including the Litany of Saints, published in GIA’s Lead Me, Guide Me hymnal. He is also the composer of The Jazz Mass of Gabriel the Archangel, the service music of the Mass set in a jazz style. He has worked as a pianist, organist, and cantor at several local Catholic churches in his career, including a term at the Newman Center on the campus of the University of New Orleans. He is also currently employed at Delgado Community College Communication Division as a computer lab assistant in the English as a Second Language Department. He is the owner of By The Horns Music Publishing, LLC, which handles all his original compositions. He works in the city as a keyboardist for several New Orleans area musical acts, including Bamboula 2000, for which he has composed many songs. He has begun producing his own CDs of original music in cooperation with many local artists.
