Priesthood Sunday

September 28
  • « Bishop Francis Scholarship Brunch
  • ORACLE Bible Study on Zoom »
This Sunday (September 28) is Priesthood Sunday.
We remember and pray for the priests near and dear to us, those who serve us, and those who serve with us.
Thank you for your ministry!
What is “Priesthood Sunday”?
Priesthood Sunday is a special day set aside to honor the priesthood. It is a day to reflect upon and affirm the
role of the priesthood in the life of the Church as a central one. This nationwide event is coordinated and
sponsored by the USA Council of Serra International.
What is the USA Council of Serra International?
The USA Council of Serra International is an organization of lay men and women whose mission is to foster
and affirm vocations to the ministerial priesthood and vowed religious life in the USA. More than 10,000
Serrans in over 250 clubs nationwide collaborate with their bishops, parishes and vocation directors to fulfill
this mission. Through this ministry, Serrans work to further their common Catholic faith. Visit the USA
Council at serraus.org.
How can I honor my priest[s]?
You might find the following list of ideas helpful in honoring your priest[s]:
• Pray for your priest, and all priests serving in the Archdiocese and elsewhere
• Pray for the vocation programs for the Archdiocese – and for more people to be open to a call to the
priesthood, the permanent and religious brothers and sisters
• Personally thank your priest on Priesthood Sunday, or any day
• Send a thank you note or letter to your priest
• Invite children in Religious Education or school classes to write or draw notes of appreciation
• Invite your priest for dinner with your family or friends
• Send a card or letter to a priest who used to serve at your parish [your parish/mission office can assist
you with addresses]
• Send a card or letter to a retired priest [your parish/mission office can assist you with addresses]
