The Word became flesh and dwells among us.

“The angel said to the shepherds, ‘Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord.”

Our thoughts and words are inadequate to begin to understand the love God has for us.  God was alone and nothing existed but Himself.  God had no need of anything outside of Himself, when He decided to create the universe, our world and us.  However, His creation sinned against him through Adam and Eve.  Yet, because of God’s great love for us, He sent His only begotten Son to become one of us, to save us from our sinfulness.

Now, can we image, or understand, the love our Virgin Mother Mary must have for us, her children in the Body of Christ?  She willingly exchanged the joy of that first Christmas for the agony of the Cross.  Mary’s agony was that of a mother watching her Son die a horrible death, so that all her children, in Christ, could live and safely come home.  No one is now shut out from the joy of that first Christmas.  Sadness has no place on the Birthday of Life.  All of us share the same reason for rejoicing, Our Lord, victor over sin and death, finding no man free from sin, came to free us all.  We now have great joy and peace in our new home in Christ.

“Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests.”
