Virtual Book Launch: Catholic Heroes of Civil and Human Rights
September 9 @ 12:00 pm
1800s to the Present
By Carmel Communications
Join co-authors Matt Daniels and Roxanne King in a virtual book launch of Catholic Heroes of Civil and Human Rights. Panelists also include Deacon Harold Burke-Sivers and Dr. Christopher Picho who will lead a thought-provoking discussion moderated by Kathryn Jean Lopez about the book, which profiles sixteen inspirational Catholic men and women — lay and religious, canonized saints and even ordinary car mechanics — who defied all odds to advance civil and human rights since the turn of the 18th century.
This book launch event is being held on the 40th anniversary of the pastoral letter “What We Have Seen and Heard,” published by the Black Bishops of the United States as a witness to the Black community. What type of impact has the letter had on the Black Catholic community and the Catholic Church in general?
