Featured Article: A Brief History of African American Catholics - "Slavery was a cruel social institution that corrupted the entire history of the United States. It divided the nation. It divided religion. It touched every part of the Catholic Church. In 1839, Pope Gregory XVI condemned slavery in the document Supremo Apostolatus Fastigio, but this made little impact. Catholic slaveholders did not consider slavery immoral, since the Bible did not forbid it. Many priests and religious sisters owned slaves. So did some bishops. Even some African American Catholics had slaves. A black person might purchase a slave in order to be able to marry him or her and the spouse remained, legally, a slave." | Read Full Story

Hard as Nails Ministry
|

Criminals Want You!!

Everything that the modern day youth deal with is intense and in your face. Sex, drugs, violence, and hate are in our faces everyday. Society puts those things on a pedestal to be worshiped as a god. From music videos, to television shows, to radio programs these "false gods" are saturating this society. We live in a society that worships the creation, while turning their back on the creator. It often looks like the road to destruction is the better way. If we profess that Jesus is Lord than we have to be as intense or more intense with His message.

Hard as Nails ministry is a youth and young adult ministry program designed to bring the message of Jesus Christ in intense and dynamic ways. Hard as Nails embraces the missionary spirituality of Pope John Paul II's "New Evangelization. We travel throughout the United States, individually or with teams of youth, spreading the message of Christ at youth retreats, youth groups, conferences, and high schools. Hard as Nails Ministry tries to develop teams of youth all over the United States to travel with a Hard as Nails minister who will lead them, challenge the young people to grow into amazing witnesses of Jesus Christ to their fellow youth and to adults.

Each member of Hard as Nails has gone through the trials and tribulations that come with the journey of faith. We have shared in the experiences of the cross and the crown of Christ. We understand that living for Christ in these days can be one of the hardest things to do, but we know that it is Christ who gives meaning to our lives. We know that the love of Christ can pierce that hardest heart and that Christ gives us the strength and the hope to get through the trials that life presents.

We are a non-profit ministry that is based in Paramus, NJ. We have branches of the ministry in Syracuse, NY, Ithaca, NY, and Washington, DC. If you would like more information on Hard as Nails Ministry, if you would like us to come to your parish, high school, or event, or if you would like to help support the ministry feel free to contact us via e-mail www.hardasnailsministry.org or at Hard as Nails Ministry, PO Box 1085, Paramus, NJ, 07653.
