Cristo Rey Jesuit High School

Why Cristo Rey Jesuit?

Cristo Rey Jesuit High School offers a strong academic and spiritual education and a corporate work-study program in a safe, disciplined, and nurturing environment. Specifically designed for students from low-income families, Cristo Rey is an independent, Catholic, coeducational, college preparatory high school. Our goal is to prepare students for higher education and to assume leadership roles in the community.

The Cristo Rey Network consists of ten schools nationally who all strive to fulfill the same goals:

  • Students prepare for college and careers in a safe, affordable, Catholic, and Coeducational environmental.
  • Small College Prep style classes allow students to interact with teachers and their fellow students.
  • Work-Study programs gives students real-world job skills and a place to apply what they are learning in class.
  • Students graduate with an excellent resume and extensive community network. Over 97% of graduates plan to go to college.

Who May Apply

Cristo Rey Jesuit seeks Baltimore City students who demonstrate economic need, motivation for success, strong academic potential, and willingness to work on a team.

We will open to a class of 100 9th graders in 2007. Each year we will add a new 9th grade class until there are 400-500 students in 2010-2011.

Our Curriculum

We aim to provide a high quality education that fully prepares our students for college. Students pursue the traditional discipline of English, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Modern Language. Additionally, students will study religion each year in a manner sensitive to their own traditions.

Cristo Rey Jesuit's program will also include arts, service learning, and technology components, along with academic assistance and enrichment opportunities to ensure that our students are appropriately challenged and supported.

The school day and year will be extended to meet the academic requirements while making time for the Corporate Work-Study Program. The academic year will begin in early August and extend into June.
