Atlanta to Host 2006 Inter-regional African American Catholic Evangelization Conference
"Gettin' on the Good Foot, Runnin' to the Kingdom"

Official Conference web site: http://www.catholic-doc.org/ec/

ATLANTA (May 22, 2006) - The Inter-regional African American Catholic Evangelization Conference will be held in Atlanta August 4 - 6, 2006 at the Atlanta Hilton Hotel, located at 55 Courtland St NE in downtown.

The theme of the conference is "Gettin' on the Good Foot, Runnin' to the Kingdom." The theme capitalizes on the spirit of Isaiah, the prophet, as he calls the people in exile, who have been given permission to leave Persia by King Cyrus, to return to Jerusalem and work and wait for the promises of God to be fulfilled.

This annual conference is designed to equip and empower youth and young adult Catholics and those who work with them to truly be "Sons and Daughters of Light." The best of resources and experiences in faith which our heritage can afford will be laid out to feed our youth and young adults and those who serve them.

More than 1,000 people are expected to participate from various cities in the Southeast and Southwest region, including New Orleans; Houston; Charleston, S.C.; Charlotte; Raleigh; Jacksonville, Fl.; Memphis; Nashville; Birmingham; Mobile and Atlanta.

Attendees will be exposed to presentations relating to evangelization, ministry, spirituality, relationships, parish finances, and critical health issues. The conference emphasizes recent development from the National Black Catholic Congress Youth and Young Adult Commission on outreach using the Appreciative Inquiry Process.

"We look forward to the opportunity to learn, share and build partnerships for positive change," said Conference Coordinator Annette Turner, Director of Multi-Cultural Ministries for the Archdiocese of Louisville.

Early Registration for the Conference is $125.00. To register go to the IAACEC web site at http://www.catholic-doc.org/ec/ On-site registration is $150.00.

The IAACEC is sponsored in part by the Archdiocese of Atlanta, the Diocese of Charleston, S.C., the Archdiocese of Louisville, the National Association of Black Catholic Administrators, KPC, and National Black Catholic Congress Office.

For more information or to volunteer, Charles Prejean with the Office for Black Catholic Ministry in Atlanta at (404) 888-7848 or via e-mail at cprejean@archatl.com or IAACEC Conference Coordinator Annette Turner, at (502) 636-0296 ext. 245.
